The Art & Business of Digital Writing
Hi there, Digital Writers!
Let me ask you a question…
Why is the “art” of writing kept so separate from the “business” of writing? Why are the most legendary artists financially illiterate (some even repulsed by the thought of the conversation!)—and why do the richest marketers, copywriters, and entrepreneurs struggle to write from the heart?
I’ll tell you why:
Because school, creative writing classes, MFA programs, and writer retreats, do a terrible job merging these two worlds.
So, do you want to master the “art” of writing, but also learn the “business” to make your craft lucrative?
Then this paid newsletter is for you.
Who am I?
My name is Nicolas Cole—and I am a writer, teacher, and entrepreneur.
Over the past 10 years, I have amassed hundreds of millions of views on my digital writing, published 9 books (in genres spanning Memoir, Poetry, Education, and Business) , built 2 multimillion-dollar writing-related businesses (a ghostwriting agency & an education company), a 6-figure SaaS writing platform, and taught over 10,000 writers in our flagship education program, Ship 30 for 30.
Said differently: I have built a career as a writer at the intersection of “art” and “business.”
“Cool story, Cole. What do I get if I subscribe?”
This paid newsletter is my next project—an Evergreen Book digging deep into, you guessed it, the “art” and “business” of writing.
Specifically, writing in the Digital Age.
My overarching goal here is to combine these two worlds, because I believe the higher the quality of “the art,” the more money you will make—BUT ALSO, the more you understand business models, marketing, and sales copywriting, the more intentional, cutting-edge, and profitable your art will become.
This is the kind of writing education I was looking for when I was 23 years old, right after graduating from college with a degree in Fiction Writing.
My goal is to give it to you.
