Cole,

This is very valuable information. I printed it out to keep as a reference.

Takeaway #10: Don’t underestimate the value of a “better” team member.

“A $500,000 team member is VERY different than a $50,000 team member. Get comfortable spending more.”

…” This is absolutely a faulty belief/skill deficiency I’ll need to let go of to grow to the next level.

I need to get comfortable with the idea that the next department head we hire might be 2x or 3x more than any person I’ve ever hired in the past.”

Takeaway #11: “The theoretical max of a business is the sum of the knowledge on the team.”

If you’re the founder, and you’re the “smartest” person on the team (aka: you tell other people what to do and how to do it), then the theoretical max of the business is literally your own knowledge.

…If you want to expand the theoretical max of your business, buy more knowledge.

I’ve always surrounded myself with people smarter than me. It doesn’t take a lot for me to reach that goal! ;)

I’ve found it to be a built-in pipeline of constant education that I have built into my budget.

Some people tell me I am foolish for doing it. Most of them speak from a place of insecurity and ego.

Both #10 and #11 can be achieved by hiring an intelligent, highly salaried, valuable department head. The knowledge you purchased from Alex, $5,000 plus $35,000, still has you under that $500,000 team member Alex referenced. From just the bit you shared with us, you got a bargain!

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your story, enthusiasm, and notes from the Acquisition.com experience. This makes so much sense for you and everything you have ever shared about your passion for writing, entrepreneurial adventures, bodybuilding, gaming, and what success means for you. Whenever I spent more money than I ever thought I would on this kind of three-day, two-night immersion with business owners like me and lots of vulnerable conversations with rapid learning, I experienced the same high you are feeling now. The best is ahead in applying everything you learned and stepping into unknowns, with the continued support and communication with that tiny cohort of friends you made at the in-person immersion workshop.

Thank you for providing this information. I teach entrepreneurship to high school students in Lake Coiunty, IN and found Alex Hormozi on YouTube. I did a couple of lessons on Alex's Brutal Business Truths. From my corporate experience, I thought the Truths were spot on. While researching on YouTube, I found videos claiming Acquisition.com was a scam. It is very difficult to figure out what is the truth most of the time. Your experience helped me understand the value of Alex and Leila's experience.

Nicholas, this is a terrific post. Thanks so much for sharing your experience of and takeaways from such a valuable workshop (including the food experience. Traveling with food allergies is no joke, I know!) #10, 11 & 12 are my highlights. Show them the gap - so simple, yet so seldom done.

Great insights!

But isn't #3 + #4 contradicting #9?

If you haven't tested pay ads, you wouldn't know, right?

Or is that you should have tested using 20% of your $250k budget?

Thank you, Nicolas, for the writeup. It's rare to read such a density of gems about all things business. I loved the pieces about employees - both to hire someone to build you a department and the value of paying someone a lot more than you would at first consider. It shows that there are many paths to massive impact and financial wealth - you do not need to be the CEO to build a great life. Please keep us in the loop for the follow-up events.
